NATIONAL APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Chef of the Year

 

            A Goal of the Akron-Canton Chapter is to nominate our current Chef of the Year to

the region to represent the chapter and region in the cook off for National Chef of the Year.

To that end we will support the chapters Chef of the Year with cook-off practice and

sponsorship of our candidate to the regional and national convention at the expense

of the chapter where there employer will/can not support our candidate

            It is the past Chef of the Years/Chairman of the Chef of the Year Event to

ensure that all dates and time lines are known and followed to accomplish this goal.

Awards Presentations

February-April 2004
Regional winners announced during regional conference award events.

July 2004
The national winner will be announced at ACF’s national convention during the President’s Grand Ball.

 The Candidate must - (National Standards-Check all that Applies):

Hold the equivalent of a Sous Chef title or higher in a full-service dining operation (i.e., restaurant; private, public or country club; hotel or resort; cruise-line restaurant or in a culinary program fine-dining restaurant where the candidate is the Sous Chef or Executive Chef Instructor responsible for dinner service);

Be based in one location with a minimum of 50 percent hands-on cooking responsibility;

Be nominated by an ACF-Akron-Canton Chef member in good standing;

Be a United States citizen. If a nominee has a permanent resident visa (green card)

      this is also acceptable; and

Allow three years between nominations.

Nomination should focus on a person who has extremely high standards, possesses a high degree of culinary skill, and is known for the cooking of American cuisine.

Candidate Must meet – (Local Standards):

Local Standards:

·        Must be a Member in good standing of the ACF Akron-Canton or Chapter’s ACF Region

      (if not an ACF Member)

·        Points:

o       Minimum required 4 years, membership or employment (2 points)

o       Each year after 4 years (1 point)
